From Dugdale, we find that the foundation of Shrewsbury Abbey included donations by his father, Roger Corbet, and with the consent of his brother William and Everard himself.
Roger's sons Everard and Simon made a gift to Shrewsbury Abbey of a ferndeel of land in Wentnor, mentioned in a confirmation charter of 1155.[1]
The editor of the Shrewsbury Cartulary assigns the gift to the years after 1139, since it is not in Stephen's charter of that date. [1]
A manuscript reciting the foundation of Shrewsbury abbey records donations including by "Rogerus Corbeth" of “villam…Wenelegam”, with the consent of "filiis suis Willelmo et Eurardo" [2]
Henry II King of England confirmed the foundation of Shrewsbury abbey by charter dated 1155 which includes a reference to the donation by "Rogeri Corbeth ecclesiam de Wantenoura" and by "Ebrardi et Symonis filii eius" of land "in Wantenover" [2]
However, the similar confirmation issued by Henry III King of England refers to the donation by "Ebrardi et Symonis filiorum eius", referring back to Roger. It is therefore not certain whether Simon was the son of Roger or of Roger’s son Everard. [2]
Everard and Simon also gave land to Haughmond Abbey, Everard with the consent of Simon. [3]
Ebrard Corbet, the third Baron of Caus, succeeded his brother William. Ebrard in turn was succeeded by Roger Corbet II. Anderson's History does not specify the relationship between Ebrard and Roger. [4]
Everard was the third of nine barons of Caus. The relationships between some of them are not completely clear:
From the pedigree attached herein, we learn that Everard died without issue (ob.s.p.) ...
Augusta Corbet's Pedigree of the Barons of Caus shows Roger Fitz-Corbet, Domesday Baron of Caus, ob. (circa) 1134 [5] as the father of four children: William Corbet of Wattlesborough, Baron of Caus; Everard, ob. s. p.; Simon, ob. s. p.; Roger, Lord of Tasley, ob. 1175, and Robert, founder of the Swedish Branch of Corbets.
