It seems that parents were erased and debated before I was a member on here but if you have time I'd like to know your thoughts on Empson-8 and Burdon-15 being the parents of Peter Em(p)son here. I can provide some sources if you'd like to take a look but I'm posting on the profile so anyone can let me know their thoughts. Thank you, Becky S.

https://archive.org/details/HistoryAndAntiquitiesOfTheCountyOfNorthamptonBakerVol1/page/n1 ( don't say which volume) and the Vic County History. They say that Empson died in 1473 and his wife( Richard's mother) in 1475. When Empson died admin was granted to his executors by the Archdeaconary of Northampton.(so possibly a local will)

From, Peter & Janet Gooding, Sir Richard Empson"Towcester the Story of an English Town", Towcester and District Local History Society.pp 84-85

Peter's place and date of birth is unknown though he is sometimes said to have been of Pavelispury (Paulerspury?) or Westbury. He is also said to have been a sieve maker. (don't say who said it) They mention that in most deeds and conveyances the name was spelled Emson.

It is presumed he moved to Towcester in 27 Henry VI 1449 when "Simon Ruff of Westbury and Eleanor his wife demised to him for 110 years , a cottage in Tovecester, containing in length along 'Myllelane' 90ft in breadth along 'Parkelane' 20ft".(infuriatingly they quote from the deed but no reference)In a discussion on where the cottage was they cite 'Baker' which I assume is

Is anybody managing this profile?

What's up with "PIERPONT" in the bio for the father?

What's up with the two imaginary sisters Elizabeth, one born in the wrong place and BEFORE her parents?

This entire family group is exceptionally non-sourced. Is the note in the bio legit, that this is from Bacon? If so, please make that a source and delete all the other non-sources in the family group. If he's the (sole) source we ought to be clear and honest about that. Then validate his claim.

If nobody is actually managing this family group, please remove yourselves from the profile manager role(s). It's de facto orphaned when the profile managers haven't made edits (and necessary improvement) in five years.

someone should clean up the biography. Peter above is born 1414, below it is 1423 with his father born 1455 and mother 1440. The children's births are before he was capable of having children, except for the duplicate Elizabeth and no Richard is listed there. I can't clean it up, or I would.

There's an interesting record in the UK National Archives from the Chancery; Division C (Records of Equity Side); Chancery Court Pleadings addressed to the Bishop of Bath; Glover v. Eborall; Plaintiffs: William Glover and Alianore, wife, dau of Thomas London. Defendants: John Eborall, PETER EMPSON, Stephen atMilne, Richard Salford and Robert Cooke, feoffees to uses. Subject: Messuage in Towcester, Hulcote, Calcote, Burcote and lyllyngston. Northamptonshire. Date: 1467-1472. It probably doesn't amount to anything but I thought I'd post this anyway. https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C7444588
Just picked up another interlibrary loan this evening. Will begin reading immediately. The source for forthcoming citations will be:

Bacon, Francis. The History of the Reign of King Henry the Seventh. Ed. F. J. Levy. New York: Bobbs-Merrill, 1972. Print. ISBN: 70-177471

Shall I message you pertinent quotes in this comment box? Or, can I be trusted to biographical write text and cite?

Is the source to which the PM alludes the notes section the same edition as the one at this Worldcat catalog entry?

Empson-91 and Empson-2 do not represent the same person because: Discovered there are two diferent people with many of the same details but lived at different times.
