Biography

Joseph Fawcett was born on October 13, 1793 in Brigham, Mossergate, Cumberland, England. Joseph's parents were Jonathan and Mary, they were Quakers. Joseph's birth was recorded by Pardshaw Quaker Monthly Meeting.^[1] Mary Allason and Hannah (Fawcett) Dixon were witnesses.^[2]

Marriage 19 Dec 1818 • Lamplugh, Cumberland, England Carlisle Patriot, 02 Jan 1819 "At Lamplugh, Mr. Joseph FAWCETT, second son of the late Mr. Jonathan FAWCETT, of High Mosser, in Brigham, to Miss Mary RICHARDSON, youngest daughter of Mr. Jonathan RICHARDSON of High Trees in Lamplugh" Age 25

Joseph and Mary had five children before Mary died unexpectedly in 1834.

In 1841 Joseph was in Crummock Bank near Wigton with his children. ^[3]

Joseph married Mary Harrison on April 27, 1850. The marriage was registered in Cockermouth. ^[4]

In 1851 Joseph and Mary were in Torpenhow, Jospeh was a miller and farmer of 120 acres. They were living with son Jonathan and his family. ^[5]
