I am searching for my paternal side of my family tree. My fathers name is: Junior D. Floyd. He was told his father was Peter Floyd, and his grandfather was Henry Floyd.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much. Trish

PS: I am interested in: Close cousins. Anyone who shares the same ancestors. Anyone who shares the same genealogical or historical interests.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Trish or other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Trish:

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Hi PJ,

I saw your query about the Floyd family. I looked at Peter Floyd's profile. At the bottom right side, I clicked on the "Research" button. You have to sign in again with your WikiTree email and password. Then, I looked for Peter on Family Search. It's my favorite resource since it's thorough, factual, and free. You do have to create an account there, but they've never bugged me and I've been there for at least five years.

I found a Peter Floyd who traveled from Newport, Ireland to Pennsylvania in 1908 on the Friesland. He was eleven at the time and a native American. Here's that source. If this is your ancestor, copy the record and put an * in front of it and stick it under Sources on Peter's profile. Please remember to change the boxes above if any of the data has changed. It should look like this:

  • "Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Passenger List Index Cards, 1883-1948," database with images, FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KFD9-HB4 : 28 November 2020), Peter Floyd, 1908; citing Immigration, NARA microfilm publication T526 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.); FHL microfilm 1,380,271.

There are a number of possible sources on Peter Floyd. Here's the rest of the query page: https://www.familysearch.org/search/record/results?q.givenName=Peter%20E&q.surname=Floyd&q.birthLikePlace=Braxton%2C%20West%20Virginia%2C%20United%20States&q.deathLikePlace=Dora%2C%20Monongahela%20Township%2C%20Greene%2C%20Pennsylvania%2C%20United%20States&q.birthLikeDate.from=1896&q.birthLikeDate.to=1900&q.deathLikeDate.from=1930&q.deathLikeDate.to=1934&count=20&offset=0&m.defaultFacets=on&m.queryRequireDefault=on&m.facetNestCollectionInCategory=on

Wishing you great success,

Hello, PJ!

Normally, we first Greet our Guests and then send them the How to guide once they upgrade. I sent a How To message by mistake, rather than our welcome message. Forgive my enthusiasm and let me know if you need any assistance.
