Dr. Gorman, I have George Meek's birth date as 1755, but I do not want to change it without your permission since my only source is a tree on ancestry.com. The year you have is 1741, but his Dad was born in 1732. His first son, David, was born in 1773, I believe, not 1764, which I had until now. This family needs some work. If their wedding was 1770 as reported lots of places, they had several children before getting married. One tree on ancestry.com has them getting married in 1763 in MD, maybe to solve the problem, or maybe it is correct. Dick Gates [email address removed] your 4th cousin

Thanks for your genealogy efforts. I am Dick Gates again, but now known as another 4th cousin via Holt. Ora Holt married Frank Smith and they are my grandparents. Your profile for my mother, Frances Rebecca Smith (Smith 61644) is how I found you. I look forward to being added to your trusted list. For any other cousins out there that would like to contact me, I am Dick Gates, b. 1937, [email address removed]

Just added some new material on Hiland Main [Main-697] and thought you might be interested. He fought in the Civil War where he lost his arm. (My interest is in when he actually married his wife, the former Phinnette Scriven, in order to discover the paternity of her son Frederick Scriven. If you have any information on Hiland from 1860 to 1870 that looks new, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Christopher, do you have a source for the arrival of Anna Catherina Ruppenthal in Philadelphia?
Christopher, I have further information on the Lydic/Lydick branch you have, especially John Lydick married to Anna Mary May Lydick. Please feel free to check them out, and maybe we could either do a merge or add each other to trusted list. I have the parents for John Lydick, which was originally spelled Leidig when they arrived from Germany.

Thanks, Christopher, for recommending the merge of Sharpless-79 and Sharples-151 and for adding to Phebe's bio.

About John Mowery:

The profile has now sucesfull merged and I have edited the biography to the best of my abilities. I see you are missing valuable sources and I recommend you research and add them. Once you have done this you can do what you like with the messed up sources under the sources heading.

Thanks, Matthew Gerrard

Saw your recent postings for the Main family. Wondering if you have any Mains named Hiland who lived in Petersburg, NY, and died in Stowe, VT. Hiland lost an arm fighting for the Union in the Civil War and married the ex-wife of my g. g. grandfather.
