Biography

This profile is part of the Grant Name Study.
Laurence Grant is a member of Clan Grant.

Laurence was born about 1776. He was the son of John Grant and Elizabeth Grant. He passed away about 1840.

Came to New Brunswick with his mother, The widow Elizabeth Grant. His father was a Loyalist who died at the end of the Revolution,. In 1807 operated a carding mill. He carded wool for Tristram Hillman.

In 1809 his name appears on the Assessment Roll for those residing below Eld River in 1809 and that same year went to work on the road at Lr. Woodstock (below Eel River).

Adopted John Grant's mulatto child, David Lawrence Grant (1816-1874)

Had Plea of trespass, presented in court by Isaac Miller in 1807, against Lawrence.
