Goodnight-245 and Gutknecht-1 appear to represent the same person because: Same person - John is English version of Hans - both father of Hans who married Mary Landis
Alsace-Lorraine (Elsaß-Lothringen) did not exist in 1762 when he died. The area was part of France until annexed in 1871. (I am wary of research that claims documented evidence using that location at that date.)
