1794 Feb 28 - Union County, South Carolina.[3] This indenture made this twenty eighth day of February in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and ninety four between Charlton Shockley of the state of South Carolina, Union County of the one part and Henry Stevens of the State and County aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Charlton Shockley for and in consideration of one hundred pounds sterling to him in hand, paid by the said Henry Stevens, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, sold, and delivered and by these presents do give, grant, bargain, sell, release, convey, and confirm unto the said Henry Stevens, his heirs, exors, adminstrators or assigns one certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County aforesaid, containing by estimation, one hundred and forty acres, be the same more or less and bounded as follows (to wit) by David Hopkins line on the East, Isaac Sooks on the West, Thomas Shockley's line on the North and Enoch Hollingsworth line on the South to have and to hold the aforesaid premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging and every part and parcel thereof unto the said Henry Stevens, his heirs or assigns and he the said Charlton Shockley doth by these presents forever warrant and defend the aforesaid land and premises with the privileges thereunto belonging unto the said Henry Stevens, his heirs or assigns in witness thereof hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written.

1795 Feb 19 – Pendleton County, South Carolina.[4] This Indenture made the nineteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five between Thomas Shockley of the State of South Carolina and County of Pendleton of the one part and James Night of the State aforesaid and County of Union of the other part witnesseth that the said Thomas Shockley for and in consideration of the sum of Forty Pounds taken to him in hand paid by the said James Night in receipt thereof he the said Thomas Shockley doth hereby acknowledge that he the said Thomas Shockley doth bargain, sell, assign in fact convey and consign unto the said James Night his heirs, executors and administrators or assigns one certain tract or parcel of land located in the State above and District of Pinkney on the waters of Broad and Tyger Rivers on the great road leading from the fish dam forward to Tyger River, containing by estimation one hundred acres within its boundaries by the same river or less as appears by a platt assigned to the original grant which being had will more fully appear. Beginning at a post oak S 68 E 31:62 Red Oak 3x thence N22 E 31:62 Post 3X thence N68 W 31:62 Hickory 3x thence S 22W 31:62 to the beginning. Granted by the Honorable William Bull the eighteenth day of July Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and seventy four. Together with all and singular the rights to members and appurtenances with the profits commodities whatsoever there unto belonging or in any wise appurtaining unto the said James Night, his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behost of him the said James Night, his heirs and assigns for ever to have and to hold possess and enjoy the said granted land and premises for and clear from all former sales, gifts, grants, mortgages, rights of dower or any other encumbrances whatsoever and further the said Thomas Shockley, his heirs, executor, administrators and assigns shall and will warrant forever defend the granted land and premises as aforesaid unto the said James Night, his heirs, executor, administrators and assigns forever against all and every other person whatsoever that shall lay any claim or claims thereunto in any part or parcel thereof in witness whereof the Thomas Shockley hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written.

1797 Feb 21 - Union County, South Carolina.[1] This Indenture made this twenty first day of February in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven, between James Night of the state of South Carolina, Union County of the one part and Obediah Trannum of the state and county aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that I the said James Night for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds sterling money to me in hand well and truly paid by the said Obediah Trannum at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt hereof the said James Night do hereby acknowledge, have granted, surrendered and yield up and by these presents do grant, surrender and yield up unto Obediah Trannum, his heirs & assigns forever the s'd messuage of one hundred acres of land lying and being in the county of Union and State of South Carolina as granted unto Thomas Shockley by Honorable Wm Bull Esq. bearing date of the eighth day of July in the year of 1774 and bounded as following: beginning at a post oak and running S 68 E 31 CH (chains) 63 lks to red oak 3x, thence N 22 E 31 Ch 62 lks to a Pine 3x, thence N 68 W 31 Ch 62 lks to Hickory 3x, thence S 22 W 31 Ch 62 links, to the beginning. And all the estate rights, title, claims and demand of me thereof. Said James Night of in and to the s'd premises and every part thereof with the appurtenances so that neither the s'd James Night, my heirs, Exc., Adm. or assigns or any of them shall or may claim, challenge, or demand to the said premises or any part thereof or any estate, right, title, or interest of in or to the same but shall & will at all times hereafter of and from all rights, title & claims & interest of and in the s'd premises and every part thereof be barred and for ever excluded by these presents and I the s'd James Knight for myself my heirs Ex'rs and adm'rs do honor by covenant grant promise & agree to and with the s'd Obediah Trannum, his heirs, & assigns that he Obediah Trannum, his heirs & assigns shall and may at all times hereafter peaceably and quietly enter into, have hold, use, occupy, possess and enjoy all and & singular the s'd premises above mentioned and every part thereof with the appurtenances without the lawful statute trouble, hinderances or molestation, interruption or disturbances of me James Night, my heirs, Exors, admrs or assigns of any other person or persons claim and or me them or any of them in witness whereof I the s'd Ja's Night and Margaret Night have set our hands & fixed our seals the day and date first above written.
