George Knight was born in Dorking in Surrey, England in about August 1839. He was the son of George Knight and Mary Ann Bassett.
George Immigrated to Australia on the Neptune with his father and siblings in February 1844. The family is listed as being from Sussex and not Surrey on page 5 of the Neptune's passenger list . [1]
George Knight married Mary Simpson Alcorn in June 1861 at Ulladulla in New South Wales, Australia. They went on to have at least 5 children before he disappeared in 1871.
It is believed he was still alive and in contact with his father up to the time of his father's death in 1881.
