Joane Sprigg was the daughter of Thomas Sprigg (1604-1678) ands his wife Katherine Griffin. Joane Sprigg is named as the daughter of Katherine Griffin Sprigg, widow of Thomas Sprigg, in the will of Katherine's brother David Griffin [1]
He was a merchant who along with thousands of others moved to London from the rural counties to swell the population of the capital city, which had become the "Great Economic Attractor" iln the 17th century.[2]
Thomas Sprigg "married in 1629 Katherine Griffin, who was born 1610 in Kettering, Northamptonshire. She died after 17 August 1661 (possibly in Maryland). She was a daughter of Georg Griffin of Kettering (born 1594). [2]
Before 1664 in Calvert County, Maryland, she married George Read, b. 6 Jan 1613/14, St. Andrew Holborn, Middlesex, England, d. 28 Jul 1674, Calvert County, Maryland - Inventory (Age 60 years) [3]
Beall gives a year of 1668 for the marriage, which appears to be erroneously late.[4]
George Reade's Age and Parents
George Reade gave a deposition in 1658, stating at the time that he was aged 27, hence born in 1631. The deposition was abvout ownership of a horse.[5]
Skordas shows George Reade as the son of Thomas Reade and his wife Elizabeth. [6]
Her child with George Reade was born in 1664 [3]
George Reade's Death
Beall reports that George Reade, Sr., died in 1669. [4]
The date of George Reade's death is not clear. He had previously been married to Alice Taylor. In 1664 a widow of George Reade deposed before the Provincial Court. Was the deponent Joane Sprigg Reade or her predessor Alice Taylor Reade?

mm note: I believe George Reade died about 1663 and his widow Joanne Sprigg married Robert Tyler. note 1664 note 5Oct1664 record for George and his widow, and the 1674 accounting of George and the 1673 Will writing of Robert Tyler. It appears Joane close both George's and Robert's account about the same time in 1674 when she married John Beale. [8]

Abraham Sprigge, bapt. 11 Apr 1669, Foxton, Leicestershire, father: Thomas Sprigge (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NPFS-68P)
Joane Sprigge, bapt. 1 Oct 1671, Foxton, Leicestershire, father: Thomas Sprigge (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J3Z2-5W1)
According to the 1679 will of David Griffin, of London, brother of Katherine Sprigg of Stratford Bridge, she was then a widow with children; Thomas, Abraham, Katherine, and Joane. (https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/955607:5111)
According to the 1678 will of Thomas Sprigg, merchant of London, his wife was named Ruth, and his children were; Richard, William, Jane, and Anne. (https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/954560:5111)
So it seems fairly clear that Thomas Sprigg, merchant of London, was not the husband of Katherine Griffin, and the Joane Sprigg mentioned in the will of David Griffin, was born around 1671, so she could not be the wife of the men mentioned in this profile.
Both Thomas Sprigg of Foxton, and Thomas Sprigg, merchant of London, seem to have links to the Sprigg family of Northamptonshire, so they're all possibly connected, but probably not in the manner presented here.
I suspect that Thomas Sprigg of Foxton might be the man who was buried in Market Harborough, Northamptonshire, in 1678. (https://search.findmypast.com.au/record?id=S2%2FGBPRS%2FLEICS%2F102147795%2F00262&parentid=GBPRS%2FLEICS%2FBUR%2F00148603)
This places him very close to Kettering, one of the 'legendary' places of origin of the Spriggs of Maryland.

The concerns related to George Reade, which have been addressed.

The George Reade baptized 6 January 1613 was married to Margaret when he had a son George bap. 20 Dec. 1642 at St. Andrew Holborn, Middlesex. The child was listed as born at his father's house in Baldwin Garden in Grays Inn Lane. See: https://www.familysearch.org/photos/artifacts/132802435 #429
Baldwin Garden in Grays Inn Lane is also where George (father of George born 1613) was buried in 1645. https://www.familysearch.org/photos/artifacts/132723140 #287
George [Jr.] also had children Mary bap. 9 Oct. 1644 and Elizabeth bap. 16 Sep. 1649 at St. Andrew Holborn.
George [Jr.] secondly had a license on 6 Aug. 1672 with Mrs. Abigail Howard in London, being listed as a widower, age 58. See: https://www.familysearch.org/library/books/records/item/388215-redirection p. 206 [image 211]
Being still in London in 1672, he is clearly not this George in Maryland.
Please delete the 6 January 1613 birth for her husband George Reade, as that is not the George Reade she married. See my page http://fzsaunders.com/reade.html for source cited and linked to records for information on this family he is incorrectly connected to.
I have contacted Mike Marshall regarding what he has on his site (note the first thing he lists is the link to my page above) and he agrees that George born 1613/4 is not the same as George, wife of Joane (Sprigg) Beale, and will be changing his page. Also note on his page that he lists a 1658 deposition where George is age 27, clearly added evidence that this George is Maryland is not the person baptized 6 Jan. 1613/4.

Joseph - One of the reasons for a profile having a manager is so that people know who to contact about the profile. This means managers need to be active & inactive managers removed. Please post a reply to this comment before Sunday, 16 May, if you are still active in WikiTree and would like to remain a manager of this profile. If I don't hear from you by then, I will remove you as manager (but you'll still be on the the trusted list). Thanks!
edited - changed wording... the profile won't be orphaned, since the project is now a manager. Sorry for any confusion.
