Magdelaine Le Blanc was born at 6 p.m. on 28 Sep 1721 and baptized the following day in Port Royal, Acadie, daughter of Joseph Le Blanc and of Marguerite Bourgois. Her godparents were Claude Bourgeois and Magdeleine Bourg.[1][2][3]

Magdelaine Le Blanc married Joseph Richard, son of René Richard and Marguerite Thériot, on 22 Jul 1743 in the parish of St-Jean-Baptiste of Acadie.[4][5]

Grand Dérangement
In 1752, Joseph and Madeleine were residing in Memramcook with 2 sons and 1 daughter. [6] They were recorded again in Memramcook in the 1755 census with 4 boys. [7][8] The family managed to escape deportation by fleeing to Canada, Nouvelle-France after 1755. By November 1757, they were in the town of Québec where their son Pierre died and was buried.

A smallpox epidemic was raging in Quebec in 1756-1757. Many of the 1144 [9] Acadians that reached Quebec City during that period were already exhausted by famine, other diseases and their many displacements trying to escape the roundups of the British soldiers. Approximately 300 Acadian exiles died in the city of Quebec alone. [10] The church register of Notre-Dame-de-Quebec parish shows numerous entries of deceased Acadians indicated by a cross and the letters "acc" or "acad" in the margins.

Joseph Richard dit Canadian passed away on 13 Dec 1757 being given the age of around 40 years on the record. His burial was the following day in Notre-Dame parish cemetery of Québec. [File states: A cross above the last name refers to the margin where it is written "Canadian"][11][12] Sons Basile and Joseph died two weeks after their father.
