Richard Lewis was born in Prince Georges County in 1657.

Parentage Unknown

Richard Lewis was formerly shown as the son of Thomas Griffin Lewis, b. Lancaster, Va either 1638 or 1652. Thomas Griffin Lewis was, in turn, shown as the child of Richard Lewis of Virginia and his wife Francys Miles. Regrettably, Richard and Francys, while real people, have only two documented sons, Richard and Miles Lewis. There is no indication that Thomas Griffin Lewis was their son, or was the father of Richard Lewis, or that he even existed.

Migration to Rowan County, North Carolina

During his life he migrated to Rowan County, North Carolina and founded a family there. He died there in 1719.
