Research notes

There is a LARGE confusion as to which André Migné died when, of the father and son. The evidence on the subject is as follows:

Both deaths are recorded in Ste-Anne-de-la-Pocatière, and both list the man who died as widower of Marie Françoise Ouellet.

The first is the funeral on 22 November 1727, which does not give an age for the deceased, death having occurred the previous day.[11]

The second is on 5 Feb 1729, death having occurred the previous day, this one clearly writes out the age of about 59 âgé d'environ cinquante neuf ans[12]

When the son of André and Françoise, André, marries on 19 Jan 1728 in L'Islet, to add to the confusion, neither is listed as deceased.[13] When their son Joseph Mignay (sic) marries on 16 Aug 1730 in Cap-St-Ignace, both are listed as deceased.[14]

The following act was found in BANQ

The attached record (at source) on 15 February 1728 asks for the naming of tutors for the 3 boys and 5 girls, all minor children of the deceased. So it is certainly not about André Migné the elder, whose last child was born in 1682.

The following 3 acts in the notary's inventory clearly show the younger André as deceased, as well as his wife (named incorrectly Marie and Marie Madeleine on 2 of them).

They consist of the marriage contract of their daughter Marie Angélique in January 1728, the sale of André's property in February, and the apportioning of the land of the deceased couple in March.

So the younger André died in 1727. This still leaves the 1729 funeral with very large glaring outpoints. The elder André was widower of Jacquette Michel, and per an ordinance of 1727 by Intendant Dupuy was around 95 years old then. NOT 59. 1681 census gave him the age of 41, so in 1727 he would have been around 87, and his appearance could have made him look older. Too much sacramental wine drunk by the missionnary Maurice Imbault, who performed both funerals? Or recopying his notes in 1729 and mixing up the two men? There are obviously missing records for Ste-Anne-de-la-Pocatière, a search for funerals for the period 1726 to 1729 inclusive only brings up 5 funerals in Drouin collection. Françoise Ouellet's funeral being among the missing ones.Liard-1

In the original 1686 census at Chiqnitou dit Beaubassin, André Mignier is written as LAGASSE, Jacquette is written as Marguerite, André (son) is written as Gabriel, Francoise is written as Jeanne, Marie Anne (daughter) is written as Marguerite, Marie Madeleine is written as Anne, and Michel is written as Pierre.[16]

done research, notes show what I found, which shows who died when, and the glaring oddities of the case.  :D Please get the merges done in this family, and correct LNAB for some of them who either show the family dit name as part of LNAB or else variations of the name.

Mignier-Lagace-4 and Mignier-13 appear to represent the same person because: same man, dit names do not go into LNAB so merger into Mignier-13

Death 21 Nov 1827

Note : décès par D. Bilodeau

Hi, PM's, this person has a different death date in Drouin: 11/21/1727. Here's the link to check it out. I'll go ahead and change it in a few weeks if I don't hear back, but would prefer one of you to verify as well.
