Biography

Lydia Henchman Perkins was born 21 November 1770 in Bridgewater to Dr. Richard Perkins and Mary Hancock. She was named after her mother's Aunt Lydia Henchman Hancock. On 24 October 1795 she married Samuel Spear, a merchant in Boston. Lydia and Samuel were both Admitted to the Brattle Square Church on 4 Sep 1796. Lydia gave birth to her only child on 10 Dec 1796 and died two weeks later on December 22nd.

Her only child was:

• Samuel Perkins Spear b December 10th 1796, drowned while visiting South Carolina May 16th 1818, and his body was brought back to Boston to be buried in the family tomb. At the time of his death he had recently graduated from Harvard.
