Hello Jackie,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles that you manage, or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

About Michael Dickson who died in 1803 in Hancock Co., GA and is buried in Shys Cemetery, the DAR placed a headstone. This headstone is for a Captain. There were two Michael Dicksons - one from NC and one from SC. Both evidently lived in Hancock Co. Therefore, there is a lot of confusion.

Yes I know all about the two who at one time lived in Hancock county - the one went back to South Carolina and you can follow his life after he left Hancock - mine is the one buried in Hancock county. Two completely different people and the one who came from SC and went back to SC can easily be traced
I was born in Minnesota but grew up in Washington state. After college married a a navy enlisted who became an officer and traveled and lived all over the United States. Loved Navy life. Taught school and then put in 28 years civil service. Have my Master's degree from USC and took all the genealogical classes offered at Brigham Young U. Researched in Salt Lake City 2 weeks every year since 1980 until 2004. Do volunteer work for LDS and NEGHS. Have been member of Puget Sound Genealogical Society since 1978 and have held all the officer positions at various times. Now work in our library located in the Kitsap County Library on Sylvan Way in Bremerton, WA where our books are housed. Have helped NGS with typing all their family forms to put on line, helped set up numerous websites on the internet especially Taylor County, GA. Did typing of info for LDS so info could be put on line. Have never taken money for my research although have done a lot of research for various people and my children, their spouses, my grandchildren and spouses, and now my great grandchildren. love to research
