Biography

Daniel Cripe Replogle Sr was born on 24 September 1773 in Hagerstown, Frederick County, Maryland. His parents were Johann Rinehart Replogle Sr. (1720 - ~1796) and Maria Barbara (Koenig) Replogel (1738 - ~1796).

Also in 1820, a Daniel Replogle listed in 1820 census of Bath Twp, Green Co OH, age 45 & over (? - 1775), along with a George Replogle, age 26-44 (1776-1795). Same county as Daniel 11A but different Township.
11 Sep 1827: He purchased: Range 4, Twp 6, Sect 22, part of sect, West half of southwest qtr, 81.20 acres, located in what is now Clay Twp, Montgomery Co OH.
1829-32: Paid taxes Montgomery Co OH.
1830: He res Clay Twp, Montgomery Co OH. He and wife b 1760-1770; 5 ch. 1830
census, p. 278: Males - 2(5-10, b. 1820-1825); 1(15-20, b. 1810-1815); 1(20-30, b. 1800-1810); 1(60-70, b. 1760-1770, Daniel, ID 11A, RN 25). Females - 1(15-20, b. 1810-1815); 1(60-70, b. 1760-1770, Daniel's wife Susannah Metzger).
After 1831: Removed to Elkhart Co IN.
1835: Purchased land at St. Joseph Co IN on 8 Sep 1835, along with his son
Daniel, Jr. who also purchased land on that date.
1836: Justice of Peace records at Rush Memorial Museum at Bristol, IN, list a court case that concerns Daniel Replogle, Sr., which took place in Apr and May of 1836 at Elkhart Co IN. It appears from the wording of the case that Daniel, Sr. was ill. He was represented by John Carpenter, Jr. (11A:3), his son-in-law and later administrator of his estate. The plaintiff Henry White recovered of the defendant Daniel Replogle, Sr., the sum of $ .44 with interest thereon at the rate of six per cent per annum from the 7th day of May 1836, with cost of the suit at $3.61. This judgement was appealed to the Elkhart Circuit Court by the defendant May 30 1836.
Before 1840: At some point "Daniel Replogle and Susan Metzger resided Mill Creek, near Cincinnati, OH when Susan's father died."
1840: In the 1840 census for Elkhart Co IN, p. 63: 1(15-20, unknown); 1(60-70, probably Daniel's wife Susannah Metzger).
1840-1850: "I know of no such place as Pine Creek, IN. There is a Pine Creek that runs through Jefferson Twp. in Elkhart Co. This is where David and Susannah Biesecker lived. Susannah (Metzger) Replogle is said to have died in their home most likely between 1840-1850. There is a Pine Creek Cemetery as well as a Pine Creek Church this is located on the corner of US20 and Co. Rd.19, this corner may have been known as Pine Creek. Daniel and Susannah (Metzger) Replogle are buried in Sugar Grove Cemetery located on Co. 17 about 4 or 5 miles from the Pine Creek Church.."
1844: Daniel d. intestate possessed of a large personal estate. His son-in-law John Carpenter, Jr. (11A:3) was named administrator of this estate, and John was taken to court in 1844 to disburse estate monies to lawful heirs. Susannah Metzger's father's correct name was "George Philip Metzger." He was son of "Philip Metzger."
