Biography

Benjamin Rice[1][2][3] was born and/or baptized 31 May 1640, Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[4]

He was assigned a house lot of 24 acres in 1660 at Marlborough, MA.11 On 29 September 1673 at Sudbury, MA, farm land was sold by written contract, naming Benjamin and Mary (Brown) Rice as the sellers of the land given to them by their parents, Edmund Rice and William Brown[e], were named as the father and father-in-law of Benjamin Rice; buyer was John Death.[citation needed]

He sued Dr. William Avery, of Boston, for malpractice. Verdict for defendant on 23 May 1685 at Sudbury, MA. (Avery's son had amputated one of Benjamin's legs due to frost bite.)[citation needed]

At least one online tree claims he married March 1, 1655 Mercy Brigham. On that date, one Mary Brigham [widow] married Edmund not Benjamin Rice in Sudbury.[citation needed] She has been detached as spouse of Benjamin.

He married about 1662, probably in Sudbury or Marlborough, Massachusetts, Mary Browne, dau of William Brown and Mary Besbeth[5][6] by whom he had:

Mary (Brown) Rice died 1 Jan 1690/1,[7]

After Mary died, Benjamin married 1 Apr 1691 Mary (Chamberlain) (Graves).[8]

Benjamin died 19 Dec 1713, Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[9]

Just thought you would like to take a look.

Okay, the 1 Mar 1655 marriage in Sudbury is for Mary (sometimes shown as Mercy) Brigham to EDMUND Rice. source. I’ll fix this. Thanks again David.

EDIT: all fixed.

Thanks, David, for flagging this. I notice the narrative also questions this marriage. Let me take a look.

What's the basis for even including Benjamin at the age of 15 marrying Mercy Brigham with no viable proof source?

Probably as the son of a PGM. While he himself is not PGM, his father is. I can also imagine he was protected because he was the lowest numbered LNAB and there were a LOT of merges. So the PPP is protecting that low number.
