DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Ronald or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree: It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Ronald:

Hi Ronald

Welcome to wikitree and thanks for signing the Honor Code, I hope you discover as much about your family as I have about mine over the last several years.

Check out the How-to pages for some quick tips on working with both the Wiki pages and our other members. There is some great information on those pages.

Hi Ronald,

Thank you for adding your DNA Test to your profile on WikiTree. Getting Started with DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree. This link will give you more information on the DNA features on WikiTree.

Laura quick question as I start to put in the proven by DNA lines, I know it says 3rd cousins we can use the straight matches without triangulation.

23 and me says 3-4th cousins?, do those work as well, as they don't seem to have a "3rd" cousin, so I'm assuming max from there is 2nd to 3rd cousin.

And family tree DNA where it is says 2nd to 4th? or again only 2nd to 3rd?

Hi Kristina,

You can use the third cousin match if, the match is 7 cM's or higher. If it is not then you need to run a triangulation. You both have someone else who is a match to you both at FamilyTree. If you need to triangulate use the three of you. Gary is a match for you both, you and Ronald.

DNA confirmation is usually used to confirm relationships. In edit mode, you will see by the parents' listed options to choose. They are non-biological, uncertain, confident, and confirmed by DNA. You can go back to the MRCA or most recent common ancestor.

You need to try to find where you connect into each other's trees. Right now there is no genealogical connection because your connection does not show in the tree and there is no way to see how the match connects. You could add it in your biography but, not on any other profile because there is no connection right now. Once you connect into each other's trees your DNA information should show on each other's profiles. Then you could use the information to prove your shared ancestors.

I can tell you this Ronald and Gary's cM's are quite a bit higher than yours are to Ronald. So, I would look at the connection you both have to Gary. He is already on both your profiles so the connection seems to be closely linked to him. Try to figure out where that connection starts for you and for Ronald.

I hope that this helps.

Thank you!

I'm starting the long process of starting mark what we have so we know where the Gaps are and just how this final puzzle fits together and DNA is our magic answer. As that will help bridge the magic Gaps as DNA has now tied Matlock Roberts to Absalom and Sarah Sally - which I'll need triangulation for that.. but as frustrating as ancestry can be.. it is a beautiful tool to shift through the needles with their algorithms so we can concentrate on where things will work instead of sifting through thousands of people..

This was more a "general question" then specific to Robert.. thank you for everything you and the back end team do to make this a wonderful collaborative place
