Biography
Johannes George De Rank (a.k.a. Johan Jury Ronk and other variants) was born in Belgium in about 1715. He emigrated to America, arriving some time before 1738.
On 29 July 1752 he was recorded as Hans George Ranck, a shoemaker of Ulster County, New York, and of the Dutch Reformed religion, when he was naturalized as a British citizen. Witnesses for the naturalization were J. H. Goetschius, Lawrence Alsdorf, and Hans George Neits. He served as a witness for the naturalizations that same day of Alsdorf and Neits.[1]
He died in Ulster County, New York, in 1793. He made his last will and testament on June 15, 1793, and it was presented for probate on September 13, 1793.

It's clear that there were several variant spellings of his last name. I've not found evidence of any birth record in Belgium. Early records in New Netherland appear to have called him De Ranke. Also, in familysearch, I found no records for this name in "Belgium" or France, but there are some Dutch records (for other people) with the name De Rank. Other spellings were found in Germany, Sweden, and Finland, but not the Netherlands. Accordingly, I propose DeRanke as the better choice for LNAB.
