Biography

Birth Date: ABT 1665 in Argyle shire, Scotland Andrew Simonton was born in 1665 in Argyle shire, Scotland; his father was Andrew Symonton, b: ca. 1635 in Duddiston, East Lothian, Scotland. Andrew and his brother William moved first to Strabane, W. Tyrone, Ulster, Northern Ireland around 1705. Then they emigrated from Ulster, Northern Ireland, to New England in 1718 aboard HMS "Roberts". They settled near Casco Bay, at the site known as Falmouth (Cumberland Co., became York County), Maine, then part of the Province of Massachusetts Bay. Andrew was accepted as a full resident in 1727 there.[1]

Andrew brought with him his wife, Ann Douglas, b: 1675 in Argyle shire, Scotland. They had married in 1695 most-likely in Argyle, Scotland. The couple had 7 children, born in West Tyrone, Ulster, Ireland and New England:
