Biography

Sarah Smith was born about 1860 one of fourteen children. She was the daughter of John Smith and Elizabeth Clayton.

Arrival in Moreton Bay, was revealed on the Assisted Shipping Index for 1874; Sarah was 19 years of age; that calculates to being born in 1855; parents, John 45 years, born 1829; Elizabeth 42 years born 1832.

They travelled on the Ship "Royal Dane arriving in Moreton Bay, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on 4 May 1874. Also on board was Obadiah Joseph Budgen; who later married Sarah.

Sarah was married in Queensland, Australia on 6 December 1874 to Obadiah Joseph Budgen and they had eight known children named:- Elizabeth Budgen, Ester or Esther Budgen, Sophia Budgen, Sarah Budgen, Obadiah Charles Budgen, Matilda Lydia Budgen, Ada Budgen and Joseph Smith Budgen.
