Biography

I came to WikiTree in March 2018 in order to "park" several GEDCOMs while I wait for RootsWeb to be back to full function. I've discovered that the program here is something else entirely, and it's well worth the effort to be part of the community. My files are big, and I want to include all the family members I've discovered, so it will take me awhile to get things in order. Thanks, all, for your patience.

I'm a chemist, teacher, writer, gardener, and small business owner, relocated in 2017 to New Haven, CT, area after living for many years in Minnesota. We moved to be close to our daughter and her family, so I get to add grandma (Nonnie) to my job description also.

I began family history work after my mother died in 1987, and I thank so many dedicated researchers for helping me find my way. I'm also working on getting my mother-in-law's extensive records digitized and archived. She joked about knowing parts of her family back to Noah, or at least the Druids.

My business is called Science Outside the Box. I really DO have fun with science every single day. JSC

And THIS is about my tiny hometown in Illinois. My father and his brothers, my sister and I, and our first-cousin-once-removed all attended the Blue Mound, IL, public schools. https://herald-review.com/news/local/for-whom-the-bell-tolls-in-blue-mound/article_66a0d413-e383-52ab-a728-d30299d6dd10.html?fbclid=IwAR0pu6DK_0TzgDrrwqjFz_1IlP8b_CXw8WElsVIuk6FosOKEjrwiD7m0Epw

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jane by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jane:

I appreciate that. You know how it goes when you love building other's trees!

Before you know it, you're 12 degrees back from where your family is connected.

Hi Jane,

Thank you for the pertinent information about Eakin-766. PLEASE add those known. If you want I can let you adopt what I started?

posted by K (Beals) Kready
Hi! My mother-in-law is the Eakin in the family. I don't need to adopt the Eakins you are adding, but I did check for their ancestors. I like to add what I can find (easily) so that others may have a "leg up" into the tree. Best wishes!

If you are interested, there is a lively FaceBook group called Eakins All! (with the ! ), investigating Eakins (many spellings) who live in and migrated from Northern Ireland. Jane

Hi Jane, thanks for your kind comments on my query.

I had envisaged the transfer the records from "hendry_b" and a somewhat larger "hendry_m" (for Hendrys in Moray) to be a low-hanging fruit sort of job that I could rattle off in a few weeks before getting into the known relatives in "hendry", who have a lot of biographical details available in addition to the raw hatch-match-despatch information. One year on I'm still working on it.e

Regards,

Michael PS You didn't actually answer the question!

Hi Jane! I tried emailing but not sure if went through. Could you please share the Rachel peckinpaugh page from the brace book. Also, do you have a list of her children?
posted by Cathy S
Hello Cathy, I'm corresponding with several people on the same family right now, and I don't believe I did get email from you. Have you checked Rachael's page? Peckinpaugh-37 spouse of Nimrod Price. Children are listed in the text of her bio, and four of them are in the WikiTree already.

I will copy the Brace book pages for you and email them to you. Would love to know how you are connected. Jane

Thank you! I’m new to wiki tree so still trying to understand it.

Do you have any info on nimrod price? I’m trying to understand his history and how he acquired the land. Thank you!

Me again! There might be a connection between your Leimbacher-17 and my Hans Conrad Leimbacher born +/- 1770 - a nephew maybe?

wishing you a Happy Easter!

posted by Dierk Lüthi
Hi jane! I cannot see the connection between my Leimbacher-28 and your Leimbacher-17. However, there is a connection between Joseph Leinhardt through my mother's side - 30 degrees to me through the Anthes - Lucius line

Hello Jane, your contributions are appreciated. I noticed that you merged Haines-5628 into Haynes-6525 and noted that the spelling would have to be worked out. Please be very careful when merging. This page explains Is it ever OK not to merge duplicates?. Please notice the information on merging profiles when the LNAB is not spelled the same. Thanks, Laura

Thank you, Laura! I realize I hoped there was an active manager for one of the profiles who had more information. I'll remove or postpone the merge and add a comment to each profile. Jane

Thanks for the question, neither Light-69 or Snell-72 are related to me, when on transit on my way to work, or in a waiting line I do clean up on birth/death locations when they've only put in the initials on a state - eg Edgar Co Il and turning it into Edgar, Illinois - also doing minor other things like marking unsourced if they are, moving middle etc. These were on the data doctor report that I'm currently in the E's for.

This is what I was doing on their's yesterday, and I had marked them unsourced.

As updating profiles will help google find them better if cousins do a query eg - if someone is search Snell Illinois - it might not find snell il, and google likes pages that are updated and will show them in the search returns earlier.

Hello Jane. Really lovely to find another relative on the other side of the world. Looks like we share Georg Michael Kübler (2nd) and Christina Barbara (Schönau) Kübler as grandparents of some sort. I know that the Küblers came to Queensland rather than NSW but I'm really not sure why. I don't really have any contact with extended family on that branch. I'll send a private message.

Jane, I have made some rather wide scope changes to John Barrickman most impactfully, I have changed the spouse to Barbara Franks. I added some lengthy research notes and a number of sources to support the change. It is my intention to fix Pickenpaugh-19 (remove john as the spouse) and do the same for the children that already have profiles linked to Pickenpaugh-19, as well as add profiles for all the missing children. Please let me know if you have any problems with this.

Hi Rob, My only source is the Brace book. It certainly looks as if you have found other evidence. My Peckinpaugh connection is through another line. Thanks for your careful work. Jane

Hi Jane,

I am going to add the sources I have found for Alexander, but none lead to a definite answer to his parents. My research though indicates that he is a son of James Hissey but with his second wife Elizabeth Marsh. If the records I found are correct Mary "Polly" Miller died in 1810. James remarried Sep 1817 to Elizabeth Marsh. The birthdate of Alexander is what throws me off in the research though as I have it recorded as 27 August 1814. Perhaps Mary died just shortly before the 1817 marriage to Elizabeth Marsh?

We are at least cousins through the Hissey line. I will be comparing DNA result (in a rather complicated way) with you soon!

Hello Jane - responding to your comment re: the documentation in "Michigan Death Certificates, 1921-1952" in the FamilySearch database. It seems the James Snell referenced there is the son of Ransom Snell and Mary Ann Hughey, whereas this James is the son of Joseph Snell and Malissa Cummins. Ransom and Joseph are brothers, so these two James boys are 1C. The confusion comes in because they were born about the same year, and of course, in the same area in Ohio, and were given the same Christian name. My database isn't complete, but I will email you my list of descendants for the common ancestors, William Heinrich "Henry" Snell and Permelia Strong.
