Nathaniel Stevens was born about 1684, presumably at "Hop Grounds" (present-day Bedford), Westchester County, New York, where his family had settled about 1680 (see his father's biography).
Nathaniel made a will at Danbury, on February 1, 1743, which is now on record at Fairfield. In it, he makes mention of his children, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Stevens, and his wife Ruth. He speaks of John and Ezra as "my youngest sons." Nathaniel died not long after making his will and the estate was distributed in April 1743. John and Ezra chose guardians on 5 July 1743.[1]
His inventory was taken on 25 & 26 July 1743 and recorded at Fairfield on28 March 1744.[2]
The distribution of John and Ezra's (the two youngest sons) part of the real estate is dated 4 & 5 April 1744 and recorded at Fairfield.[3]
