John Taber was sometimes called "blacksmith of Little Compton." In Bristol County Deeds 12:65 (1717) John receives money from brother Philip of Dartmouth for 1/3 part of land. Susanna married (2nd) Thomas Corey, d. in 1738, son of William and Mary Corey.
John Taber died before 28 Aug 1727, the date his inventory was taken. His will was written 18 June 1718 and proved 21 November 1727, It names his wife Susannah, sons William, Philip and Thomas and daughters Mary and Sarah. His widow remarried to Thomas Cory. Her will, dated 14 Nov 1774 and proved 20 May 1776, names sons Philip, William, Thomas, John and Joseph Taber, and daughters Sarah Hart and Lydia Faulkner.[1]
He was a husbandman who resided in Dartmouth all his life. His will was dated 18 June 1717 and proved 21 Nov 1727. Three children were born to them after the date of the will, so not included in it, but are named in his widow's will.[2]
