Child actress and diplomat including United States Delegate to the United Nations
Shirley Temple was born in 1928.[1] Her parents were George Francis Temple and Gertrude Amelia Krieger. She became an actress at age three. At age five, she received international fame in for the film Bright Eyes, The movie was the first feature film designed specifically for a girl's talents and the first where her name appeared eponymously over the title. Her signature song, "On the Good Ship Lollipop", was introduced in the film and sold 500,000 sheet-music copies. It was written by Richard Armstrong Whiting and inspired by his daughter, Margaret. She became the first child star to be honored with a miniature Juvenile Oscar for her film accomplishments. She imprinted her footprints and handprints at Grauman's Chinese Theatre,
Other major hit films included Curly Top with actor John Love Boles. The movie included the signature song "Animal Crackers in My Soup."

She married twice. First to John Agar in 1945.[2] Later, she married television executive Charles Alden Black on December 16, 1950.[3] A son and a daughter were born of her second marriage.
After an unsuccessful campaign for election to the United States Congress, she worked in foreign service. She was first appointed as a delegate to the 24th United Nations General Assembly. Later, she served as United States Ambassador to Ghana. She was appointed the first female Chief of Protocol of the United States and was in charge of arrangements for President Jimmy Carter's inauguration and inaugural ball. Later, she served as the United States Ambassador to Czechoslovakia. [4]
She died on 10 February 2014 and was buried in Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto, Santa Clara County, California, United States.[5]
