The source cited below has three additional sources for this information.

Magdalena was born in 1688 in Warn, Bern, Switzerland.[1] She married Hans (John) Hess and they had thirteen known children. Hans (John) Hess and Magdeline came over to Pennsylvania with the 1717 Swiss migration. She passed away in 1767.[1] in Pequea, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States.

Looks like you may be right. The Find a Grave Memorial says Hans is the son of Samuel and his first wife Magdalena Zindell, referring to Family book of remembrance and genealogy : with allied lines by Leonidas Meacham. It would be best to locate a primary source for their marriage, since the pages you shared refer back to Ancestry and My Heritage trees. Good catch! Let's investigate some more.

Take a look at the Meacham source, p. 608 Samuel did, indeed, marry Magdalena Zindell and Hans was her only child. Hans married Magdalene Unknown.

This Magdalena may be wrong. According to this page, this Magdalena is Samuel's 2nd wife and Hans step mom.
