Biography

NOTE : Franey is a diminutive of Veronica, Not a family name!!

Franey Funk, "Wife of Jacob Funk," asked the sheriff of Frederick County to take her husband into custody because she feared for her life, July 12, 1744.[1]

The will of Jacob Funk of Frederick Colony, Virginia, made on 28 Jun 1746, and proven 3 Oct 1746, names his wife as Frances, and identifies seven children : Jacob, Henry, John, Frances, Elizabeth, Mary and Barbara.[2][3]

Ezekiel Sangmeister, a member of the Sabbatarian sect on Sandy Hook, near Strasburg, mentions the family of Jacob Funk on a number of occasions. An entry dated only 1758 refers to Henry and Jacob Funk Jr. and says of their mother, " she had a restless and desperate end after she had been baptized by the Dunkers some two years ago. She was very much given to fanciful dreams and visions. She could not be brought away from them until her death.[4]

Or the annual barrel of liquor her husband left her in his will may have been what did in Veronica.

Franey is a feminine first name, a form of Verena / Veronica. It is NOT a family name.
