Biography

Elizabeth was born in 1715 in Somerfield, Somerset County, New Jersey,[1] the sixth of eleven known children and the fourth of seven daughters of John and Margaret Mollenauer Van Meter.
In 1733, when she was about eighteen, Elizabeth married Thomas Shepherd[2] in Monocacy, Frederick County, Maryland,[3] and bore him twelve children, five sons, and seven daughters:

Elizabeth died of unknown causes in June 1793 in Shepherdstown, Berkeley County, Virginia, (now Jefferson County, West Virginia).[4] when she was in her late seventies.
