Biography

Nathaniel Whiting was born to John Whiting and Mary Billings in Wrentham Suffolk, Massachusetts Bay Colony on February 2nd 1690-2.[1][2]


Nathaniel married Margaret Mann in Wrentham on April 18th 1711. She was the daughter of Rev. Samuel and Esther (Ware) Mann[3]

Nathaniel and Margaret settled before 1712 in the part of Medfield that became Medway, where he established a mill and where they had three children :[4]

  • Ester, b. Mar. 20, 1711-2, [5] married Nathaniel Clark in Medway on June 21, 1732
  • Margaret, born October 8th 1715
  • Nathaniel, twin, born December 22nd 1725, died 1770
  • Nathan, twin, born December 22, 1725), died 1790

On June 29th 1724, he gave his father a receipt for the full share of his estate.[6]

Capt. Nathaniel Whiting died in Medway on September 4th 1779, in his 89th year.[7][8]

His will was dated April 14th 1770, and proved October 1, 1779. In it he mentioned his wife Margaret, daughter Margaret Clark, son-in-law Nathaniel Clark, husband of daughter Esther, grandsons Nathaniel Clark Jr. and Simeon Clark, two granddaughters, children of Nathaniel, deceased, and son Nathan Whiting.
