I have been researching Family History for over 10 years, especially my Grandparents surnames of Andrews (mainly in Suffolk), Stroud (mainly in East Kent), Wickenden (mainly in Medway area of Kent) and Morey (mainly in Dorset around Dorchester and Milton Abbas). Currently on the Stroud and Wickenden trees are on WikiTree, others to follow.

I am also looking at Barrington and Trowbridge names in Dorset and Somerset

Hello!

I noticed that you're working on pre-1700-era profiles. This is just a reminder that certifying to work on these types of profiles means that you agree to add valid sources as outlined in the Pre-1700 Certification Quiz.

If you need help with this, our G2G Forum is a great place to start. You can get there by clicking the link on the Help menu.

Thanks!

These are the key bits of advice that you should follow:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles#Cite_reliable_sources https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Sources_Style_Guide#Commercial_Web_Sites_as_Sources I have edited the profiles of our joint ancestors, putting in links to accessible sources and removing your paywalled Ancestry references.

Hi, John, please do not set Margaret Austen and Margaret Austin as unmerged again. They are duplicates and need to be merged so that their duplicated children can also be merged. Austen-1484 is the lower numbered ID and is the correct spelling according to the sources. Your help getting these duplicate profiles merged would be very appreciated. Thanks, Laura

Hi John

Thanks self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Collaboration with Pre-1700 Project members is essential for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because those ancestors are usually shared by many descendants.

It looks like the England Project would be a good fit based on your branch of WikiTree. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Do you have any questions? Let me know by using the "reply" link under my comments or by clicking my name to visit my profile. From there you can leave a comment or send a private message. . I'm happy to help! :-)

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

The help pages give lots of information about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'.

Hi! I see you have uploaded your DNA for comparison. Did you know we have a project for DNA where a lot of great new things are happening? If you are interested and would like to check it out, go to the FIND link top right of your profile page, select PROJECTS from the drop down box, and then select the link for the DNA project. It has information listed that might be of interest to you, and feel free to contact any of the members if you would like additional details.
