I was adopted. My birth certificate states my mother is Gloria Fay Williams who lived in Mobile, Ala.. She was sent to the Salvation Army Women's Home in Birmingham, Ala. during the last 4 months of pregnancy. My father was listed as unkinown.

My non identifying information from the State of Alabama states that my father was 19 or in his late teens and in the military. I was conceived in April 1944, my mother was 16, born 1927. and my father would have been born around 1924, give or take a year. My mother chose adoption for me because she already had one child her parents were raising and they could not take on another one as they had 5 children of their own. I have papers stating all these facts.

I was 7 months old before I was adopted. My adopted parents are Edmund Lamar McRee and Lillie Lou Whitlock McRee.

I discovered who my mother was when the State of Alabama opened up their Birth Certificates for Adoptees in year 2000. After searching in the Birmingham Library, from the information I had on my birth certificate, I found my mother and her parents in Directories, then later in the 1930 Census. I also made a trip to Mobile, Ala to obtain more information, pictures, obituaries , graves, and marriages.

I did my DNA in May of 2017 threw Ancestry.com, I discovered people I had DNA with on both of my mother and father's side. On my father's side, this DNA test has opened of a new world to me, as I knew NOTHING before it and it has led me closer to who my father is. The names in his family going back to my great gradparents and father are Osburn, Stone, Dunkin, Taylor, Langford, Tiller, Nichols, Hopkins, Metcalf, Lacy, Smith, Beckwith, and Hopper. I can tell this because of the closest kin with several of my DNA matches. I just don't know which 'boy' from these families would be my father and still looking. I have several who fit the bill, lived in the area, was in the military, ect. which seen to trace to Mobile then back to Perry County Alabama.

I am still searching for who my father is, or was, and I would very much love to find out, if indeed, these names I mentioned above are truly my grand parents and great grandparents. I am hoping that the Ancestry DNA test and Gedmatch.com and Wikitree and help guide me closer.
