Biography

George Wolcot, s/o Henry Wolcott (1578 - 1655) and Elizabeth Saunders Wolcott (1584 - 1655) was born about 1622 in England.[1]

He emigrated to New England in 1630, settling initially in Dorchester, Massachusetts.

He was made a freeman on 5/21/1657; settled in Wethersfield CT.

He died 12 FEB 1662/3 in Windsor, Hartford, Connecticut.

George Wolcot made his will 19 Jan 1662/3. He named his heirs: wife, Elizabeth and children, George, John, Elizabeth, and Maria. He named his brother Henry as overseer.[2]

Note:

GEORGE came to America with his parents in 1630, and moved with them to Windsor in 1636. He moved to Wethersfield, Connecticut, about 1650. He had a house and 1212 acres on the West side of High Street in 1655, which his father-in-law, Richard Treat, had purchased in 1641. George was enrolled as a freeman of Wethersfield in 1657. He was also appointed Constable there in that year. George's will dated 1662, names his brother, Henry, as overseer and leaves to his wife, Elizabeth, his house and land at Wethersfield, and after her death they are to go to his son, George, "on condition that he carry himself orderly and well", otherwise it is to go to his son, John; to his daughter, Elizabeth, 10 pounds more than to his youngest daughter; the remainder tobe divided between his children, George, John, Elizabeth and Mercy when they marry or reach the age of 21. His brother, Henry, was named as overseer. The estate was valued at 270L. All the children were 12 years old, or less, and must have been raised by a guardian.<p>.

20 Jun 1650 is the date of birth of their child, Elizabeth. The marriage date you show should be BEFORE 20 June 1650 if at all.

Thanks Janna. The date has been changed to align with Anderson's Great Migration Begins, Volume III, page 2051.
