Hello Brian - I have sent you some messages requesting to be put on your trusted list for Jane (Unknown) Swales (Unknown-549378) but I understand reading your comment below that you perhaps have not been able to respond. Jane is Jane Stephenson. She married James Swales. Unfortunately I added her surname in the wrong field, not realising at the time that I couldn't change the Last Name at Birth field from Unknow to Stephenson. I'd like to correct it. Also, I have information regarding the children of Jane and James which I would like to add (with sources) but don't want to do that until the Last Name at Birth is corrected. I also have some information to add for Jane's ancestors. Thank you.

For your reference, James and Jane here are my 3 x Great Grandparents. I descend from their son John who is not currently connected to them. Many thanks, Emma

Hi Brian,

Thanks for taking responsibility for the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Debi

PS If the profile needs GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Hi Brian,

Thanks for self-certifying for pre-1700 and creating the profile Audrey Allenby (bef.1600-) and nine other new pre-1700 profiles.

In the self-certification process, you agreed to provide reliable sources. In this case, you identified Family Search Records as the source. FamilySearch is a repository of sources and not a source in and of itself. The idea of souring is so that others can easily follow in your footsteps to confirm your research. So just pointing to FamilySearch would require anyone following after you to recreate the research you already accomplished. Instead we want to ensure it is easy and we are not reproducing research already accomplished, therefore, please provide the exact records you are citing with a link to each record on FamilySearch that you are relying upon.

Please do not create any more pre-1700 profiles until you've had a chance to go back and source the ten you just created.

Let me know if you have any questions or would like any assistance.

Thanks.

Hi William, Yes wouldn't mind assistance am really new to site and dont know yet how to show sources on it. Original source for information added is Gedney Parish Records but am not sure how to link to each record on Family Search or how to show this more from unfamiliarity with wiki tree site. I havent as yet seen any examples to compare with. Any assistance would be appreciated Thanks Brian

Thanks William Yes can see they are very good examples lots of biographical references available for very notable personalities but I think Im struggling more with computer skills how to create links and the terminology to use for lesser known personalities. On family search there is an individual reference number for each person should I quote that. The source on there is shown as National Index of Births, Deaths and Marriages 1557.1975 as relating to a particular individual but the true original source is the parish records from each parish which was compiled into that list. Shame i ve actually compiled a large Allenby chart which would add greatly to what you have but the sources are all from parish records either online at Family Search or in person mostly at Lincoln Archives in Lincoln from both printed and microfiche copies of parish registers. Nothing is unsourced I just currently lack the computer skills and terminology that you use to show the sources due to my newness to the site. I ll just watch and learn for a while and not add anything until I know the sites workings because im a bit daunted but thank you for your reply

Hi Brian,

Thank you so much for working through the technical challenges and adding the detailed sources to Audrey Allenby (bef.1600-).

It is great, exactly what we need!

Hey Brian,

I went through your recent edits, it looks like you are ripping through all of them to add sources very well. I went in to the profiles and made some small formatting tweaks to improve their look, but the source information was perfect. I also removed the { {Unsourced } } tags from all the ones you took care of.

Thank you so much for your perseverance in adding sources to our shared tree!

If you have any questions, please just let me know.
