What to do with collected data that does not relate to our families

I have gathered a lot of data whilst researching my and my wife's ancestors. A lot does not relate to our families but will to other peoples'. Is it of value to the Tree for me to download this? What is the best way? There are hundreds of pieces of information.

Thanks  John Gabriel

Hi John.  You can certainly create profiles for people who aren't related or connected to you or your wife.  Under the 'Add' Menu at top right there's a selection 'New Person' that will open the template.  But it can save a little time if you look through the data base first, because sometimes you'll find that the person you have data about is already here.  In that case you can just add what you have to the existing profile

John, Thank you for thinking about others while compiling data on your own families!

We need to brainstorm and think of the easiest way for you to pass the extraneous data on to those who might have an interest.

Here's one: You are pretty new, and you may not have run into free space profiles yet. You might create one, post all of your pieces of information in it, then post a notice here in G2G with a link to the free space page, and add tags with all the surnames linked with those pieces of information.

I'm sure others will have ideas also.

If I were to make an excel template of the standard WT new person and populate that with whatever I have gathered, is there a way in which I can bulk load into WT rather than labouriously, and data hungrily, enter each one? For example I have downloaded a set of birth data from the Belgian State Archives and it is relatively simple to arrange all this info in a format that would fill some of the data fields in the WT template.  I appreciate that I am looking for an easy way to share the data but I suspect that there are others who would come forward with their leftovers if it could be done easily!
