It would be great if one could subscribe to have access to an up-to-date digital version of the books, especially if it worked out cheaper than a physical copy. I think a lot of people would be willing to pay an annual fee for that, as the books themselves are quite an investment and hard to justify unless you happen to be descended from one of the American immigrants he focuses on.
Actually, many people interested in medieval genealogy (such as myself) are interested in having Richardson's books, not just people with immigrants to America.  I 'bit the bullet' a couple of years ago and purchased all three sets of his books.
I live overseas so it's the cost of the books plus expensive and difficult shipping.
Yes, they are very heavy.  Shipping overseas would be expensive . . .
Good proposal
I have the book but would be nice to copy and past rather than type out everything when sourcing.

thanks for the heads up on the e-download site

Hi to all at G2G MCA I tried to use the "e-bookdownload.net" site, it showed that the titles I was looking for were available , but did not list prices, I continued to the next page that asked me to register the next page immediately asked for my credit card details... On a scam search I found this comment: The “E-bookdownload.net” site uses mymediarecommendations.com, which is a credit card scam portal...  Further to this I did write a request to the portals home site asking for charge details, after 24 hours no reply... I say it looks very dodgy & best avoided… Cheers: Peter 'Patten-336'

Thanks Peter for the heads up
This is a very helpful thread on Douglas Richardson and his books.  Thankyou.

"Plantagenet Ancestry" is available online, but is not used as a reliable source by the Magna Carta Project. The project uses "Magna Carta Ancestry" (2nd edition, 2011) and "Royal Ancestry" (2013) as its primary sources. "Royal Ancestry" is not available online. Portions of "Magna Carta Ancestry", 2nd ed., are available in Google snippets view: https://books.google.com/books/about/Magna_Carta_Ancestry_A_Study_in_Colonial.html?id=8JcbV309c5UC

ROYAL ANCESTRY - Douglas Richardson 2013

5 Volumes $195.00 - includes MAGNA CARTA ANCESTRY & PLANTAGENET ANCESTRY plug 1000 new pages.  I bought them, they are invaluable.  I also owned MAGNA CARTA ANCESTRY before buying the 2013 RA.

In an email from DOUGLAS RICHARDSON he advised me of the following:

 1        PLANTAGENET ANCESTRY
by Douglas Richardson, 2011, 2nd edition (3 volumes)

2          MAGNA CARTA ANCESTRY
by Douglas Richardson, 2011, 2nd edition (4 volumes)

3          ROYAL ANCESTRY (includes everything in 1 & 2 above +1000pages)
by Douglas Richardson, 2013, 1st edition (5 volumes) $195 on Amazon

None of his books are available digitally so far!

You could always reach out to Douglas Richardson and suggest that he make them available digitally.  My guess is that, until he sells out of the hard copies that he has, he wouldn't be interested in making them available online.  When you order them on Amazon, he ships them to you.  There was an issue in the delivery on mine (by the delivery company, not by Mr. Richardson), and he was very helpful and responsive.  I've followed his work on the SGM Google forum for over 15 years.  If you are 'into' medieval genealogy, you might consider joining that forum (soc.genealogy.medieval).  You can search the archives and find a lot of information.

he ships his books as ordered and ROYAL ANCESTRY 5 VOLS 2013 are paperback.

Yes, I know.  I own sets of all of his books.  Even though the RA are 'paperback' books, I still consider them 'hard copies' as opposed to digital copies...  smiley

No, but I feel that he should eventually make a website instead of more books. Then he could update and eventually set it up as a moderated site for posterity. All his books are based on the same set of files he makes and updates.

For the time being keep in mind that Royal Ancestry is the newest series and is supposed to contain everything in the previous ones.

Maybe some of the answers so far are unclear about this.

1. Royal Ancestry, the newest series, contains everything the older series contained.

2. It is easy to order directly from Douglas. Look at royalancestry.net

"The domain has expired."

There is a free space page.

I purchased the books five years ago on Amazon.  They're still available there, and Mr. Richardson mails them once the order is placed.  See https://www.amazon.com/Royal-Ancestry-Colonial-Medieval-Families/dp/1463561687
