One of the joys of working on entering early residents into WikiTree for the county historical society where I live is savoring the color. For your amusement, the story of the first bathtubs in the county:
Before Liberal had modern conveniences, two men built a small water plant between their homes and asked Al to install bath tubs for them. At the time there wasn't a bath tub in the county and Al believed a tub was neither necessity or luxury, it was foolishness. He then ordered a train car load of bathroom fixtures and plumbing supplies for the hardware store. When asked why such a big order for two bathrooms, he is reported to have replied, "In any county where you find two damn fools there is sure to be more."
