Update genealogietools.nl v2021.3.5: added OpenArch links

The free formatting tool for Dutch sources has been updated: it will now try to include links to OpenArch when you entered a URL for a WieWasWie document.

Some might have noticed that the generated inline reference may include a link to the document at OpenArch as well. Genealogietools.nl, the free-to-use formatting tool, will now try to find the permalink to the document at OpenArch. OpenArch is also a website to search through the open data sets for Dutch ancestors.

Please leave your comments and bug reports here as answers.

Hi Michel,

I sent you a PM as well.

I checked my error report.

All openarch links are not working. And I use genealogietools.nl wherever I can

If I have to delete them it creates a hell of a lot of work.

What is going wrong?

With kind regards, Carolina.

Yes, that's really sad, Carolina. It is a known issue, please see this thread.

Ideally these would be fixed automatically, but that can be done only if all these Regionaal Historisch Centrum Limburg "965" suggestions are identified, and if their new openarch url can be determined, and if a EditBot operation can be done to update all involved profiles.

So, a lot of if's...

As an alternative you could remove the openarch part of the citation, like I did in this profile.

Thank you Jan.

I agree. It’s sad.

And a lot of work.

Anyway, one day I am going to remove it.

I have a 393 page manuscript with all Ykema ancestors plus books with all Dagevos ancestors about the same amount of pages.

And I am busy adding them all to Wikitree.

So lovely to do.

Wishing you a wonderful day from warm Spain.

With kind regards, Carolina.

Wow Carolina, quite a job, success!

BTW, I also noticed some dead links to ykemaweb. Workaround is to cite the newsletters at docplayer.

Wishing you a wonderful day too, from cloudy Netherlands!

Thank you Jan.

It makes me so tired to only think about the error report.

I have to put it aside and for now only think about adding profiles.

I mainly use my phone to find sources and add profiles let alone think about deleting or changing all the errors in my error report

Wishing you well!

Hi Michel,

Citations of Historisch Archief Westland generated by supplying an openarch url have an invalid url.

Example:

Openarch url: https://www.openarch.nl/haw:0fe3eef4-6d45-4761-097f-e1e488d992cf

Generated citation: <ref name="BSOv992cf">Burgerlijke Stand Overlijden 1828, 's-Gravenzande, Nederland. Akte 26 [https://historischarchiefwestland-bronnen.nl/voorouders/deeds/0fe3eef4-6d45-4761-097f-e1e488d992cf Historisch Archief Westland] accessed via [https://www.openarch.nl/haw:0fe3eef4-6d45-4761-097f-e1e488d992cf OpenArch Permalink]</ref>

Citation should be: <ref name="BSOv992cf">Burgerlijke Stand Overlijden 1828, 's-Gravenzande, Nederland. Akte 26 [https://proxy.archieven.nl/0/0FE3EEF46D454761097FE1E488D992CF Historisch Archief Westland] accessed via [https://www.openarch.nl/haw:0fe3eef4-6d45-4761-097f-e1e488d992cf OpenArch Permalink]</ref>

Apparently Historisch Archief Westland has archieven.nl for presentation of certificates.

Hi Michel,

Totally loving this site, it's really handy!

Just noticing that some OpenArch links aren't working. I've noticed that marriage records, which also have a blurb about the ondertrouw, don't seem to format - it takes me to a screen saying 'Internal Server Error'.

Here's an example link: https://www.openarch.nl/hua:093E1BFF-CB9D-D7BE-E053-4701000AAEAB

Thanks!

Alex,

Alex,
We have noticed that a citation by Genealogietools.nl does not always contain a correct link to the Openarch source.
Therefore we kindly ask you to remove the link to Openarch if there's already a link to the Wiewaswie website. Or check the link to Openarch.
Otherwise we need to correct all the incorrect url's afterwards.
Thank you Margaret - I don't know why I didn't think of that straight away.

Cheers,

Alex

Wonderful tool, I use it all the time! Thanks for making this available.

I actually came here to report that links to OpenArch are often not working, but I see others have reported similar issues.

Instead of manually removing those OpenArch references could we have an option whether or not to generate them? I think for the Zeeuws Archief records I'm currently working on none is working, so it would be great if I can just set an options once to not generate the OpenArch part.
