Why or how is an image file name changed when it is uploaded?

Question

This has happened to me twice now. I found a copyright free image that I want to use in a profile, uploaded the image to a space page, but the image file name was changed to the space page name.

first:  Editing_Tips_Page.jpg

second: Useful_Images.jpg

What am I doing wrong? Can the file names be changed?

How do I prevent this from happening in the future?

The first one should be : Woodsfield_Monroe_Ohio.jpg

The second: John_Cranch_Plasterer.jpg

Images, when uploaded, take on the identity of the page, or profile, where they are uploaded.  The system assigns the image a number.
You are then free to NAME the image whatever you want.

Example - I have an image I call "Hertyl and Spertyl on the Slow Train", and I upload it to my space page Space:ToddlinTortoisesConnect
The system assigns the identity of "ToddlinTortoisesConnect-4.png" (because it is the 5th image uploaded to that page).  I NAME it as Hertyl and Spertyl on the Slow Train when I upload it -- or I can edit it afterwards and rename it to whatever I want (even something silly).

I'm currently thinking if there is a workaround to this issue. Has anyone come up with a solution that works for them?
