What do we do when visitors volunteer, but their profile is unlisted?

Situation solved--this time--when the volunteer emailed me to ask about being confirmed. I explained the problem so the privacy setting was changed long enough for me to confirm. Fortunately, I'd already left a greeting before he changed the privacy setting the first time so he knew how to contact me.

I like a story with a happy ending.   :o)

I think that if he wants to be an active member, he'll need to change his privacy level (see http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Unlisted_active_users).

The problem is, there's no way to tell an unlisted person that because we don't have access to their profile page which includes the ability to send them a message explaining this.

Another unlisted is asking to become a volunteer today. The only communication open is to thank them for asking to volunteer, which I've done. Hopefully, the person will notice and send me an email when no one confirms her. Otherwise, I don't know what to do except wait or contact an administrator who can confirm her.

I think we have block someone from becomming a Volunteer until they change their Privacy Settings. Perhaps with a warning message?
