Hi,

Does anyone know of a method of finding out if i am on the watchlist of a profile within the CC7 of another profile - which is not me, i need a listing in CSV or Excel that i can download.

Hi Allan. For a single profile, it's easy. Look on the privacy tab of the profile for the section where the Trusted List is given, and see if you are on it.

But perhaps you want to find out the answer for many profiles in one go. If so, could you describe in more detail what you are after, maybe with a concrete example?
Hello Jim,

I have been a member of WikiTree for 7 months now, and i have heard the term 'Watchlist' used several times, but never really understood what it referred to.

I assumed it was some means of keeping a watch on if anyone else created a profile that you may be interested in, say if anyone created a profile with the surname Entwistle in the city of Manchester in England.

So we fast forward to when the 15th Anniversary to the Youtube videos and one in particular (which i can not pinpoint) where the person showed how to look at your Watchlist. In the demo, i think their Watchlist was over 8,000 and they showed the warning message about a limit of 5,000 and also mentioned another limit of 10,000.

After the video i used the same technique to find my Watchlist and low and behold it was also above 8,000, at about 8,500.

Not wishing for it to go over the next limit of 10,000 when unspeakable events would happen, i decided to reduce it, and firstly find out what it is and how it came about.

It appears that when you create a profile, you also create a 'Watchlist' link to that profile, the reason for this i am not sure about.

Shortly after i joined Wikitree i was asked to include someone on the 'Trusted List' for a profile that they wanted to make changes to, which i did, so i also understand that there is a separate classification of being on the 'Trusted List'.

Anyway, the reason for my being a member of Wikitree is that a friend asked me to place her family tree onto Wikitree, so i was the manager of the 550 profiles that i added at that time for her.

Also when i took part in the WikiGames event i also added a similar number to the profile of one of the 'Olympians' :-

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Jackson-56426

I decided to replace my name as profile manager of the ones that i had created for my friend and for the 'Olympian' with my friend's Wiki-ID.

I had assumed that that would also remove myself from the Watchlist of the profiles concerned, but apparently that did not go according to plan.

My Watchlist has only been reduced by 700 and not the 1,100 expected and it appears that a lot of the profiles created for the 'Olympian' have now been orphaned.

Agreed, the process is not exactly a simple one with several places where you have to click if you want this or the other to happen.

I have 2 questions 1) can i be the profile manager but not have the profile on my Watchlist, assuming that there is no limit on the number of profiles which you can be the manager thereof.

2) It looks like i am still on the watchlist of many of the profiles created for the olympian, can i list those, and then download them in a spreadsheet?.

Hi Allan. Dennis has covered much of the ground in his answer.

For your question 1), the answer is no. Every profile of which you are the manager always has to be on your watchlist.

One answer to question 2) is: maybe WikiTree Plus can generate such a spreadsheet for you. If you could please give one or two examples of the Olympian profiles you are talking about, we can try.

The Bio Check app may also be able to generate a suitable spreadsheet.

Hi Allan.  It's all not quite that complicated!  Your 'watchlist' is just a list of profiles for which you are on the trusted list.  That would include profiles you created and manage, as well as any other profiles for which the manager added you to the trusted list for some reason.  (Profiles don't have watchlists, members do.)  This help page explains further:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Watchlist

You can look at your watchlist any time by clicking the submenu item for it under the 'My WikiTree' menu at top right of the page.  So to answer your questions, if you are the manager of a profile, then you are on its trusted list and that profile is on your watchlist.  If you remove yourself as the manager of a profile, but do not remove yourself from the trusted list, then the profile will remain on your watchlist.  The profiles you manage are denoted by a bold M in front of the WikiTree ID on your watchlist.

There was a relatively recent addition in the WikiTree Browser Extension app that enables you to create another custom watchlist if you choose, and that's intended for profiles that you neither manage or have trusted list status, but wish to follow for some reason.
