Adding Profiles to Cemeteries

Under the 16 for 16, there are two main Cemetery projects;

I need to make sure I understand them clearly.

1. Profiles from a Cemetery Category

So I go to say Weston Cemetery in Weston, Umatilla County, Oregon and I find headstones, and take photos of the headstone (especially if it is not already on Find-A-Grave at that Cemetery) and I find their is presently no profile on WikiTree, so I can make one.  It would be considered a profile from a Cemetery Category?

2. Profiles to a Cemetery Category.

I have a profile of say my father and I add a flower to his Find-A-grave and I note [[WikiTree|3935]]  I have then added a Profile to a Cemetery Category?

Is this correct?

When I read the 16 for 16 list I understand it much differently that you are describing, concerning cemeteries, My take on the requirements that involve cemeteries::

  • Add 16 profiles to a cemetery category - We place the category on 16 profiles.
  • Connect 16 profiles from a cemetery category - we find unconnected profiles that  already have the cemetery category and work on getting them connected to the Big WikiTRee.
  • Add WikiTree "flower" to 16 Find-A-Grave profiles - we place a WikiTree flower with WT profile link on Find A Grave profiles. and i haven't figured out how to do that.  I've read a few G2G posts and saw an example but still unable to figure it out.  I have left flowers on FG but don't know how to leave the WikiTree logo as a flower with profile link.
Hi Patricia and Alice!

Here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Link_Builders_Team you'll find full instructions and a tutorial video made by Azure on how to link profiles to Find-a-Grave by adding a WikiTree flower. You'll also find the WikiTree logo to create that flower.
Patricia Thank you
Vicki thank you. I'll review the video.

There are four missions that are related to cemeteries.

  1. Add a profile to a cemetery category is quite easy. Just add an existing (Or create a Cemetery category) and add it to a profile. As long as there is some source that ties the profile to the cemetery it is all good.
  2. Connect a profile from a cemetery category. This is connecting them to the main tree. The profile has to be at least a day old to show up as unconnected
  3. Add a statement in the biography: "See WikiTree.com Profile: Wiki-ID:" to 16 profiles Find-A-Grave profiles . This one is adding information to a FindaGrave profile to link back to Wikitree. Very similar to
  4. Add WikiTree "flower" to 16 Find-A-Grave profiles .

For the points you specifically asked.

Your first point would count under the **Add a profile to a cemetery category** mission.

The second point about adding a Flower to your fathers Findagrave profile would only count for the Add WikiTree "flower" to 16 Find-A-Grave profiles mission and has nothing to do with a Wikitree Cemetery Category.

Both the category and profile must exist in Wikitree. Follow the steps in the link below under the title how to categorize a profile.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Categorization#How_to_Categorize_a_Profile

You don't need to do anything on Find-A-Grave page.
