I need help locating the parents of Grafton Barber born between 1805 and 1815. According to census records he was born in Maryland but lived in Pennsylvania. We first find him in 1840 Drumore Twp, Lancaster Co., PA. By 1850 he has moved his family to Peach Bottom, Lancaster Co., PA. Census shows Grafton 38, wife Mary 35, children: Lewis 18, Joseph 17, Thomas 14, Delilah 11, Julia 5, Stephen 3 and Mary F 1.
By 1860 Grafton moved his family across the Susquehanna River to Lower Chanceford Twp, York Co., PA Grafton is 51, May 41, Children are Stephen 14, Mary 12, Pricilla 6, and Nancy 2.
There are well recorded Barbers in Columbia , Lancaster Co., PA but I have not been able to tie Grafton to this family. I have not been able to locate anything on him before the 1840 census in Drumore.
There is a John Barben family in Drumore(white) as well a Samuel Barben (colored) John Barben also moved to York Co., PA by 1850.
There is also a marriage on 5 May 1776 of a Abraham Barber from Harford, MD to Mary Maize of Chanceford, York Co., PA by Rev James Clarkson at Guinston Presbyterian " Muddy Creek" Church in Chanceford Twp, York Co PA. This church closed its doors about 1808 and did not reopen for 10 yrs. Further search for this couple has also been fruitless.
