I am trying to learn the parents of Newman N. Tucker, ca 1850-1923 of North Kingstown, married Mary Lawton.

Newman Tucker was a mill hand, or boiler tender possibly at the Elizabeth Mill in Hills Grove and later at the Shady Lea Mill in North Kingstown.His first wife Lileon Philips dies in the 1870's.  he had 5 children with Mary Lawton, Daisy, Ivy, Lily and Sadie, and a son Ernest 1901-1966.

1860 census: I think this shows him with his grandparents. Family trees are listing Francis & Mary as parents, but I have not found a record for this.

Here is the 1860 census listing Francis Gilbert Tucker & Mary Thompson (no Newman). They could be his parents, but I wonder why Newman is living with his grandparents).

Newman Tucker's parents were Francis Gilbert Tucker and Amy Tucker. Amy died in 1854. You can find her memorial on Find a Grave or RI Historical Cemetery Database. She is buried in the Brightman Tucker Lot. Francis married 2nd Mary Elizabeth Thompson about 1856.
