If I Am Not a Leader, Can I Still Create and Award a Project Badge?

I am not a leader, but I still want to award a project badge for [[Space:Minnesota/Iowa settlers | The Minnesota/Iowa Settlers project]]. Can I?

Here is a little on the subject... I'll look for more:

"Free-space projects can also have most of the elements of a project and can be nearly indistinguishable from sub-projects, but they may also be very different. They are whatever you want them to be. See Free-Space Projects.

Like sub-projects, they may use the badge of a top-level project."

As far as I know, the WikiTree Team create the badges and then the Leaders of the projects award them to project members.

A little more:

"WikiTree has a member permissions status called "Leader." Leaders can assign project badges, edit project pagesproject-protect profiles, etc. It's necessary for someone involved in a top-level project to have these permissions.

Sub-Projects can be led by any member. We call these Project Coordinators. The Leader(s) of the top-level project then help with some of the administration.

If you are not a WikiTree Leader but your idea doesn't fit within an existing project, contact Abby. Abby will talk to Leaders to see if one is willing to join your project or assist with it. In some cases it may make sense to create a new top-level project to encompass your idea. For example, if you wanted to create a China project there may be Leaders who have already been considering an Asia project and your energy would be the catalyst that makes it happen."

Hi Julia, when you talk about the project you've started, put it in the space provided when you ask questions about it. Then people can click on it.

Hi Julia,

Only Leaders can award badges, and since the Minnesota/Iowa project is a sub of US History, members would get that badge. I think I sent a private message to you a month or so ago to talk about details since I am leading US History right now, but it may have been lost in a spam folder somewhere. I will send another. We can talk about badging, goals, and maybe a template, if you like. Thanks!
