What defines an Unconnected Profile?

Question

Is it not having parents or children (one of the other or both)?  I noticed that some profiles may have been updated with information and ARE connected now and haven't been removed from the category.  However, i wanted a CLEAR definition before I changed anything.

You can tell if someone is connected because they will have "X is 32 degrees from Kevin Bacon, 36 degrees from AJ Jacobs, 34 degrees from Maureen O'Hara and 36 degrees from Queen Elizabeth II of the Commonwealth Realms on our single family tree. Check your connections or find your genealogical relationship with X." at the very bottom of their profile.

If I understand correctly the Unconnected Category is for those who have not been connected to the big tree. You can have a family group that spans several generations but if they do not connect to others in the big tree then they are still unconnected.
