What to do with so many duplicate profiles?

What is the best way to go about 15 plus duplicate profiles for one person? Is there any easier way than having to individually send merge request to each profile manager?

Michelle,

I *love* that you want to merge duplicates (or see them merged). The policy is to do one request at a time. That said, if the profile is for a person more than 200 years of age (and I'm guessing what you're encountering is because of the high number of duplicates), you could engage a Supervisor to help you (and if it's a colonial New England person, I'm your gal), but typically that is done only after no response from an existing profile manager.

Michelle, I will help merge what you need done if not Puritan Migration .  PM me .

Maggie
I'll e-mail you Jilliane.
I thought the policy for merging was 10 merge requests per day per active WikiTree participant except for Supervisors. Thanks for correcting this.  It may have been so a LONG time ago.
I'm not aware of such a policy.  The limit you refer to is for Private messages.
Becky I had not heard that before. I do know you can't send more than 10 PM in a day unless you are an arborist, super, greeter (might be other groups as well) .

That's about all you can do. Sorry.  Arborists are busy doing this all the time.

I am an arborist but this one is a bit different.
Could you provide a link to this profile?

Michelle,

You could also request an  open profile.

Open profile requests should only be initiated  after all the critieria has been met.
Michelle,

according to my notes, If there has been no response on the merge request and it has been more than a week - make the open profile request.  In almost all cases ask that all profiles be opened.  I actively use this request -

The following is the question I asked. "What is the best way to go about 15 plus duplicate profiles for one person? Is there any easier way than having to individually send merge request to each profile manager?"

It's not related to unresponsive profile managers. An open profile request wouldn't be necessary at that time.

Depending on if someone is an arborist or not. Yes, after 7 days after  requesting a merge and  there is no response an open profile request can be initiated. But, before that is done the profile manager needs to be messaged privately as well as posting on the profile and profile managers page.

I think Paul might ban me if I send him anymore open requestssmiley(by the way thank you Paul)

If the question asked by you about too many duplicate profiles isn't related to unresponsive profile managers, then what is? An open request can be made after a week , whether the profile manager is active or not.

Strange as I  am only quoting what the note said from Phil. Maybe we should clarify it with him by sending a private message.

I'm not going to clutter up your page anymore. Its a good question to ask Phil,

Michelle,

Could you give the profile link as an example?

Oh, btw, I was checking some messages concerning open requets and I found one asked by you 4 days ago which Phil answered in part:  Quote"  If open profile requests were for all  profiles over 200 years old then when a request was made a flag could be set in the system and a second request would not be allowed.  This would prevent duplicate requests, and allow Paul to do his job.  Unquote"  of course, he is talkming about profiles over 200 years old.

Question has nothing to do with open profile requests. It was asking how to deal with so many duplicates (tagged gerard) not open profile requests. This question was asked in June.
