John T. Bateman, b, 1774, d. abt 1804 is my 3x GGF. I'm told he was born in Edgecombe County, NC, but the only document I've been able to find is his will dated Aug 1803. In the will, he names his wife Kezia, his daughter "Poley," and his son "Ashal" who I believe to be my 2x GGF Asahel.

Asahel's parents are Harvey Barger Bateman and Susan (Thomas) Harvey's family eventually ended up Huntsville, WA.

I would welcome information about these families, and especially information about John and Kezia.

Thanks!

I wonder if Poley could be Polly. Many times a girl named Mary can be called Polly.
I just re-read this and realized I must have posted it in the wee hours when I was half asleep since I named Asahel's parents as Harvey Barger Bateman and Susan Thomas. Harvey B. was actually Asahel's son.

The information at the beginning is correct. John Bateman and Keziz Farmer are Asahel Bateman's parents.

I've since determined that John's daughter "Poley" was Mary Elizabeth "Polly" Bateman Batts, b. 1792. She married John Batts (1782-1857).

Feel free to contact me if you are also researching any of these people.
