I hope everyone had a great week. June is now upon us & the flowers are glorious. I got my first tomatoes the other day from my garden..way earlier than previous years! It looks like it will be a good summer.

What's new with you?

Hello from Denmark

I got a mail today which I found interesting

I only meet op with my family 12 may and today I had a answer to a question. My aunt born in shanghai came to London to visit my cousin an my cousins grandmother Mary Kragh I only knew she was Danish but could not find anything about her

Well today I got a mail about Mary Kragh

My great uncle William Young born in shanghai went to england to a nunnery to find a wife, the nuns make the decision about whom he should bring back to Shanghai and it was Mary Kragh

I knew about there marriage from archives GRO in London but never how he found Mary

North China Herald 10 June 1904

YOUNG - KRAGH. - On the 4th of June, 1904, at H.B.M's Consulate-General.

William, eldest son of the late Samuel Young, I.M. Customs' Service,

to Mary, eldest daughter of C.H.Kragh, late of Nagasaki.

Wish you all and amazing weekend

Can't believe you've got tomatoes already, my plants will be going in this weekend, along with peppers, zucchini and aubergine.  Haven't decided what else to do yet. I also have some new sod (turf) to put down, general weeding and dead heading of the Spring plants and continue planting up my Summer annuals for the deck and front porch.  It's been a beautiful Spring so far in Michigan too.

We visit Toronto next weekend to see my cousin and his wife who are visiting the area, they live in China and I haven't seen him for 20 years, I hope to complete the shawl I'm making as a gift for his wife this weekend too.  I highly doubt I'll have any time for genealogy but I'll be happy anyway as outside is my favourite place to be!

Don't bother trying to visit the Toronto Islands for a picnic, Brenda. They're flooded and the ferries won't be running until next month, but the gardens here are glorious and next Saturday is looking rain-free. Enjoy your reunion!
Thanks for the heads up Laurie.  I've never been over to the islands but as it's about 10 years since my last visit to Toronto area (Oakville), I hope to take a trip downtown.  The warehouse/distillery district has all ben redeveloped since my last visit.  But there might just to be much chatting for any real excursions anyway, we'll just play it by ear and see what develops!

Hi all. We had a good week here as far as events for "Memorial Day" observance and remembrance. The weather cooperated and the attendance was great. I would like to thank those who posted to our g2g question of the week which was "Who are the military heroes in your branch of the tree?" https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/398761  It was nice seeing so many being honored and remembered.

Now for today, did you get your free doughnut yet?? It's "National Doughnut Day"! National Doughnut Day is nearly 80 years old: the first National Doughnut Day was celebrated in Chicago in 1938. And it wasn't dreamed up by bakers or marketers at all but rather by the Salvation Army as a fundraiser. It was considered a way commemorate the work of the "doughnut girls" or "donut lassies" who fed the treats to American soldiers during World War I (the "doughnut girls" also returned to their baking duties during World War II.) Well its the first of the month so the task is ahead for me to update profiles with our new category listings and/or correct errors listed on the db errors report. I hope you all have a great weekend!

I fell down a rabbit hole stumbling across a few unsourced and unconnected profiles of a German family that turns out to have numerous connections to major prominent German families: So far I found leads to the Bonhoeffer family of Nazi resistance fame (descended from a van den Boenhoff family from Nijmegen originally, since 1513 documented in Schwäbisch Hall), Max Planck's family, von Weizsäcker family, Kotzebue family, Siemens family, Friedrich Hegel's family, Wilhelm Hauff's family, the Möbius family, Mörike family, Hölderlin family, and Goethe's ancestry among many others.

As if I don't have already enough to do with my own family, but all those notable families are floating around unconnected so far, so I'll be chipping away at them as much as time permits.

I did a little work on some largely untouched Ward profiles this morning, including adding a spouse and children for one but then I had to deal with life. We are having a graduation party for one of the grandchildren on Sunday so I had to put up the tent in case it rains, as predicted. Tomorrow I will be putting up the side walls and set up the tables and chairs and then Sunday morning it is time to decorate. We also have to sign papers to eventually buy the home we are living in, Rent to Own. I also started drawing up plans for a 35 by 13 foot car port to help with the snow in the winter. I will do some more work on here this week, I hope, I promise, well possibly.

Hello everyone, Happy weekend to all.

Doug, another beautiful picture, thank you for sharing them.

Dorothy, you always share little tidbits of info, they are so interesting and informative.  I missed out on doughnut day, darn !!!

Rabbit holes: Helmut....  don't get lost, but wait ... you may find other Wikitreers down there too.

I joined the connectors challenge for the first time, I guess I will see what I will see and do my best to do good work. I am in awe of those who put in soooooo many hours and am learning to appreciate this dedications.  My brother-in-law is a farmer in Saskatchewan and he taught his children "it only takes 10% more energy to do your job right the first time".  So even though this is not feeding the animals it is still trimming and cleaning trees and I hope I live up to his words.

Busy week today.  In addition to the mysterious missing best answer case I had a trip to the emergency room Thursday morning when I woke up not able to walk right.  Since we're warned to be careful if we might have a stroke, and the sooner the better, I dutifully had it checked out even though the symptoms disappeared fairly quickly, but a cat scan and a cat scan with dye didn't find anything and the only thing I can figure out is that I had high blood pressure because of eating bad food Wednesday. evening..  But I'm going to try losing another 15 lbs by eating better, so we'll see how that works.

This morning my wife and I broke out the Wii Fit and she had a personal best on the Basic Step and I got on the board for best time in the short run.  I also was 48 in wii fit age which is 22 years below my actual age.  (btw the Dr. at the emergency room Thursday said she thought she was in the wrong room as I didn't look anywhere near 70.)

Genealogywise I've been working on sourcing the unsourced profiles in my watch list which had crept up over 120 but I've now got down to 90.  I'm also using my watch list sorted with oldest edit at the top which will never run out, of course, but I'm hoping to get it under a year pretty soon.  But I'm still in January of last year so that will take some work too, especially since I tend to try adding 2 or more sources  to each profile, though if I can't find sources, I'm at least making improvements to the bios.

Dave, it is always better to be safe than sorry with your health, I just had a series of tests done and the results are confusing to me. Two checkups ago I had low blood sugar then on the last checkup My sugar levels were normal. Since then I cut a lot of sweets out of my diet but so far no weight loss and this latest blood work shows my sugar levels are slightly elevated, at least everything else came back good, even my blood pressure. I have over 4800 profiles on my watch list but I just keep pecking away at them and I am on track to edit every one this year.
I spent a lot of time on the Wii awhile ago, it was great. I need to get back to it. A lot of it was fun and I did manage to lose some weight. It was good in tracking the weight, you get a chart so you can see the trend lines which shows a lot more than raw numbers.
Well, after running with the Wii two days in a row, the backs of my legs are sore,  but it's all good.

Agree ... those 'Doug' pictures are great!  We've gone through most of the iris blooming .   there's an Aisan Lily that's blooming now..  The other lilies are just sittin' there ... We have an area populated by four O'clocks ... this time of year it's just dirt ... in a month or so, they will start popping up and then all heck breaks loose ... they're up to a couple of feet and just bloomin' like heck ... love it.

Getting back to adding some more Jewett folks ... doing some merging ... checking out other merges, some folks don't do a good job on clean up ... ah, well.  Changed a recent merge profile from a long list of footnotes to named footnotes ... much nicer lookin'

Watchin' NHL and NBA playoffs ... no real attachment but just like seeing the best guys go at it ... good stuff.

Weekend is almost over! Today is raining but yesterday was gorgeous. We found a new wetland boardwalk not too far away and an 80 foot waterfall.

I am getting a bit lost on the genealogy front. I tried to download a suggested app for tracking DNA cousins. I got it downloaded and the tree on it but am having trouble with the GEDmatch and Ancestry DNA info. I am following the instructions but??? I may have to purchase yet another app.

On the Pomeroy front I asked and got two profiles protected that are a problem because of a prominent book with an error. I tried creating a space for a Pomeroy project to link them to, but am still chasing down the steps to perform. It's suppose to be in Bold???? in the FAQ. I get deeper and deeper, but will I ever get out the other side?

Meanwhile we are having a great time cooking Blue Apron recipes. I just got sent an email that they are doing an IPO, but are losing money. I hope they don't go under!!!!
