New Project - Kangaroo Island Pioneers

Question

Seeking people interested in Kangaroo Island, South Australia to join a project to put all KI pioneers on Wikitree. A great many are there already due to the work of David Wilson-16694 who has generously added dozens of people outside his own family. This will be a sub  Project under Australian Convicts and Free Settlers. Settlement of KI preceded that of mainland South Australia and the area is rich with history. Whaling, Salt mining, Lighthouse Keepers, shipwrecks, runaway convicts. It's got everything.

What is a good resource on Australian ancestry, my Daughter moved there, married an Australian and had her children there, I'm told his family ancestry goes back to the Convict days.  If it helps his parents are:

Hi John. To trace his convict ancestors, you need to first find his grandparents on both his mothers and father's  side, then his great grandparents, then his great great grandparents. This is the generation that will most likely have a convict, if there are any. There are no shortcuts unfortunately, though the task can be much easier if you find some of the people you're looking for are already on Wikitree.
Someone must have told your son in law he was descended from convicts. Find out who that person was and ask them what information  they have.

This sounds fascinating! I would check with all of the members that have the Australian Convicts tag as well as the project managers to see if they can assist you with finding new members!  Best of luck!!
