Punk icon Darby Crash (born Jan Paul Beahm) of the L.A.-based band The Germs has now been connected to the Tree via an in-law. Darby Crash is best known as the subject of Penelope Spheeris' 1981 documentary, The Decline of Western Civilization, the book "Lexicon Devil", or perhaps from the 2007 biopic, What We Do Is Secret.

Darby Crash died from an intentional heroin overdose on December 7, 1980, but famously his death was overshadowed by the death of John Lennon one day later.

Good job!  I remember watching that movie back in the day.  I used to have a Germs t-shirt with the motto What We Do is Secret.  I have been creating profiles for Jazz musicians and Beat poets.  I did one rock musician, drummer Ginger Baker, but he is not connected yet. Maybe we can collaborate on some musicians.  Which one are you going to do next?

Hi Mark, I highly recommend reading the book "Lexicon Devil". It's fascinating, and I recommend it to people even if they don't care about the Germs or punk music at all.

The great thing about working on British genealogy is that, with a little finagling, you can use FreeBMD, the GRO index, and the censuses and get a really complete family tree. The bad thing about working on British genealogy is that seemingly there's not that many British people on Wikitree so there's not that many profiles to actually link to.

There are more british people on here than you might think and a lot of them are heavily involved in Wikitree. We have the United Kingdom Project and it's sub-projects for England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and various Crown Dependencies that have many members, if you want to co-ordinate with other UK Wikitreers. I alone have over 4000 british profiles and work on here every day, assisting in improving and connecting profiles and there are many others like me, so to say there are not many british users or profiles to link to is somewhat inaccurate.
